Wendy Weinkauf

Zone A Rep

Hometown, Family & Occupation: Wendy is from Macklin, SK, where she lives with her beloved cat, Bogey. She works as a librarian at Macklin School, collaborating with a great team to make a difference in the lives of students. Wendy enjoys reading, playing cards or board games, and spending time with family and friends in her spare time.

Kin Club & Kinsmen Foundation Board Involvement: Wendy has been a proud member of the Macklin Kinette Club since 2010, returning to her hometown after a few years away. She originally started her Kin journey in 2001 with the Kindersley Kinette Club, serving as the Zone C representative on the Kinsmen Foundation Board. Over her two decades of service, she has held local executive positions, served two terms as Zone C Deputy Governor, and was on the TeleMiracle 41 Committee. Wendy’s dedication to Kin was recognized when she received her Kin Life Membership in 2017. Now she serves as the Zone A representative on the Foundation Board and also on the National Kin Canada Foundation. Being a part of the local Kinette club allows Wendy to make a real difference in her community every day. She reflects on the fact that while Kin members have physically helped build structures and public spaces, the greatest accomplishment of the Kin family is the community they foster—a sense of safety, support, fun, and gratitude. This belief is what has kept her a Kin member for over 20 years and motivated her to join the Foundation Board again. Reviewing applications for funding is a constant reminder of the trust people place in the Foundation and the incredible good that comes from TeleMiracle donations. For Wendy, being part of the board is a meaningful way to see the impact she’s having on someone’s life.

Favorite TeleMiracle Memory: Wendy’s favorite memory comes from her very first TeleMiracle—TeleMiracle 25—when the total donations crossed $3 million for the first time. Witnessing the raw emotion of the volunteers and the national cast was unforgettable. “Kindness always reveals the heart of a person,” she says, a sentiment she’s carried with her ever since.

Passion for Community Service & Love of Sask: The best part about living in Saskatchewan, Wendy believes, is the small-town community spirit that shines through in both good times and bad. “Bad times don’t last, but good people do,” she says, and she loves how Saskatchewan’s sense of unity makes the province stronger. Wendy’s motivation is captured by the Garth Brooks song “The Change,” with lyrics that express her belief in the power of making a difference, one life at a time. For her, Kin is all about showing that “the world will know that it will not change me.”

Milestones & Awards: Wendy has achieved many milestones throughout her Kin career, including her Kin Life Membership. She feels honored to now serve on both the Zone A Foundation Board and the National Kin Canada Foundation, continuing her long history of making a difference in the lives of Saskatchewan residents.
