Hometown, Family & Occupation:
Shari lives in Yorkton, SK, with her husband and their dog. Her husband works as a grader operator for the RM of Calder. Their three children have all left home: their oldest daughter is married and recently made them grandparents to an adorable baby boy, their middle daughter has just finished school to become a Medical Radiology Technician and is newly engaged, and their son plays football for the Regina Thunder while working toward an autobody apprenticeship. Shari has been an Early Childhood Educator for over 30 years, spending the last 17 operating her own dayhome.
Kin Club & Kinsmen Foundation Board Involvement:
Shari is a member of the Kinette Club of Yorkton, which she joined seven years ago after watching her husband take part in events with the Yorkton Kinsmen. Over the years she has held a variety of roles, including Vice President, President, Registrar, and Director.
Service has always come naturally to her, whether teaching Sunday school or running the church nursery. “The Kinsmen Foundation enables me to take that a step further and serve my community.”
Favorite TeleMiracle Memory:
Shari’s favourite TeleMiracle memory is meeting Bella the Brave in person. “She was a bright light in this world. I wish everyone could be as positive as her.”
Passion for Community Service & Love of Saskatchewan:
Shari loves finding new projects that serve her community, and it’s the simple acts that mean the most to her. “Whether it’s helping serve a meal at a church or handing out pints of ice cream to blood donors, it all counts.”
Milestones & Awards:
Shari’s club rarely puts forward award nominations, but she recently received the District 3 Zone E Kin of the Year Award, along with Kinette of the Year at the club level.
