Danita Olafson

Zone F Rep

Hometown, Family & Occupation:
Danita has called Kindersley, SK, home for 31 years, where she and her husband, Darren, raised their two now-adult children. She works as an Administrative Assistant at Kindersley High School, and she and Darren are also the owners of WillowGrove Pharmacy.

Kin Club & Kinsmen Foundation Board Involvement:
Danita began her Kin journey in 1996 as a Kinette, holding nearly every club-level position over the years. After a roughly ten-year break, she returned in 2019 as a founding member of the Kinsmen & Kinette Club of Kindersley, eager to step back into the work and leadership she had always valued. Since the club was chartered, she has had the honour of serving as President three times.

At the district level, Danita served as Deputy Governor for Zone C in 2020–2021. She has also been part of TeleMiracle’s organizing efforts, serving as Souvenir Chair for TeleMiracle 47.

This is Danita’s first year on the Kinsmen Foundation Board. The Foundation was the one committee she hadn’t yet been part of, and after hearing from fellow Kin how valuable their time on the Board had been, she was motivated to take on the role.

“Helping people is a big part of why I’ve stayed committed to Kin all these years.”

Favorite TeleMiracle Memory:
Danita’s favourite TeleMiracle memories go back to her childhood, watching the show every year. “It was one of the few times my parents let me stay up as late as I wanted, and I’d make a little bed on the floor in front of the TV so I could watch as much of it as possible.”

Passion for Community Service & Love of Saskatchewan:
For Danita, being involved with Kin is all about giving back to her community and the province. Fundraising for TeleMiracle has always been important to her, and joining the Foundation Board has brought that commitment full circle. “Being part of the Foundation Board and helping to provide support to people who truly need it feels like a full-circle moment.”

Milestones & Awards:
Danita received the Maple Leaf Award in 1997 and was honoured as Zone C Kinette of the Year in both 2019–2020 and 2020–2021. She attended Kin Kollege in February 2020 and completed the Kin Masters Program in 2024.

“After all these years, what stands out most is the people I’ve met through Kin, and those connections are truly what make this organization so special.”
